To the untrained eye, spinifex is one of the most savage and unyielding of grasses. We can see two different types of spinifex growing in the lowlands and on the hillsides. For indigenous people, resin from spinifex is used for a number of applications including mosquito repellent, glue to attach things together, bush medicine and is used in smoking ceremonies. It has a pleasant, incense-like aroma.
